Its my take on a pop culture character called Pedo Bear. This painting is supposed to have a dark feel to it, after all the show is called "Dark Pop".

This Friday is the opening of a new, totally awesome show at the C.A.V.E Gallery in Venice CA. This is a theme driven show about the The Pixies alt-rock band curated by artist Kevin Titzer. This is going to be a great show with many of my favorite artists. This show is presented in association by Thinkspace Gallery.

My contribution is this oil painting. The "noodle man" character, Abraham Lincoln, was tough to paint since every single one of his suits squares was individually painted. The spokes of his bicycle drove my eyes bonkers too, but it was totally worth the long hours.

This is "Pigboy", ink pen, 10"x8". For a show later in the year in Italy. It's still in progress. It's the second in a series of works inspired by American folklore and sideshow banners made by Fred Johnson.

"The Jackalope"

This is my finished piece for the C.A.V.E. Gallery's anniversary show this May 13th.

The Jackalope is a mythical animal of North American folklore described as a jackrabbit with antelope horns or deer antlers and often hind legs. It is possible that the tales of jackalopes were inspired by sightings of rabbits infected with the Shope papilloma virus, which causes the growth of horn- and antler-like tumors in various places on the rabbit's head and body.
However, the concept of an animal hybrid occurs in many cultures, for example as the griffin and the chimera.

It took may trips into the desert to convince this young Jackalope to sit for me to paint, but my perseverance paid off big time with this awesome portrait. This painting is made in Oils on a linen board. It measures 16 inches wide by 20 inches tall. This painting is sold.

This is the first of a series that will revolve around American folklore. It's also made with Oil paints, normally I use Acrylic paint but I think it's time for a change. I've used them to paint before, just not my first choice, tho I have to say I feel comfortable using them this time around and I already started on a few other pieces.

The evolution of Steamboy

These are the many ways I've painted my Steamboy character.
These four clips go back about four years. The newest version, part of my new painting
"Pheromone" currently on display at C.A.V.E. Gallery, is more intimidating. Mainly
because there were toy characteristics on the previous
versions that are not in it anymore, but it felt natural and I hope you guys like it
as much as I do.
